You probably have at least a general idea of what you want to accomplish, but you need to be specific and realistic. Find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted for two or more hours. Get comfortable and start thinking about these six steps while you are writing your goals. Good luck!
1. Be prepared for the unexpected:
Things never go exactly as planned. Rather than give up or be disappointed, see the unexpected events as new challenges that can expand the process.
2. Be passionate about the goals you set:
To be driven to accomplishment, you must be inspired. Make sure your goal is clearly defined and that its achievement is important to you. Your goals should be attainable, but only if you put forward your best performance.
3. You must be the person that can accomplish the goal:
It must be clear that you are the person who will take action to accomplish the goal. It is alright if you need employees or other kinds of help, but the driving force should be you.
4. Your goal must be something that you are truly motivated to accomplish:
You must be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish this goal, because it is so important to you. Accomplishing this goal should inspire you to do your very best.
5. The best goals can be stated succinctly in one two sentences:
You should be able to explain your goal to anyone with any education level in one minute or less. Practice explaining your goals until you have a short, easily understandable explanation of your goal. Let other people be a sounding board for you.
6.Your goal and your progress must be easily measurable:
You must have a tangible way to check your progress to be sure that you are on the right path toward your goal. Maybe your progress is measured by units sold or dollars earned. Whatever you use, you must have a tangible way to measure your success.
